Nebelhorn finished first out of 33 stallions in his 1981 performance test with scores of 8+ on his gaits and 8.67 on cross country and stadium jumping.  He was selected for the State Stud at Celle and stood in Germany from 1982 to 1984.  He is still ranked in the top 10% for Hanoverian dressage sires in his age group.  He won USDF (Hanoverian) Gold Medals at Third through Intermediaire I from 1985 to 1988.  Nebelhorn also won a USDF Bronze Medal at Grand Prix in 1989 and an Individual Silver Medal at the Olympics Sports Festival in 1986.  He won three hunter show championships at the Santa Barbara National in 1991.

Virginia Tech thanks Ms. Lucile Mulky of Honey Locust Farm, Chapel Hill, NC for the generous donation of Nebelhorn to the breeding program. In the summer of 2004 Nebelhorn was retired to a small farm in central Virginia where he currently resides.

Nebelhorn is by Nebelwerfer, whose sire Novum XX was the sire of 10 approved stallions. Novum XX sired 228 competition horses, whose winnings rank him 6th out of all Thoroughbred stallions in Hanover after World War II. The Novum XX mare Narzisse F produced the approved Hanoverian stallion Philipo, sire of two approved sons and several champion mares.

Nebelhorn's dam SPS Dorella is by Duft II, an all-time sire of 43 Elite Hanoverian Auctionhorses. The Duft line is noted in Germany for conformation and spectacular gaits, inclding versatility for all disciplines. Duft II and his sons Dirk and Darling were all DLG Champion Stallions.

Nebelhorn has produced many sons and daughters who have done exceptionally well as dressage horses, jumpers and hunters.  We were very honored to offer this stallion at stud at Virginia Tech !!
