Statement of Purpose

The Equestrian Club of Virginia Tech is a recognized student organization. It is composed of undergraduate and graduate students who have an interest in horses.

The purposes of the club are:

To provide a forum for the exchange of information about equine species, their characteristics, and care.
To sponsor the Intercollegiate Riding Team (IRT) in its competitive riding schedule during the academic school year.
To allow interested students to organize, participate in or observe equine-related activities such as horse shows and clinics.

Activities include:

Guest speakers
Trips to the Horse Center, other horse shows
Fund-raising events such as an open horse show held on campus

The Equestrian Club, as a part of its sponsorship of the Intercollegiate Riding Team, raises funding for the IHSA and IDA Teams. To be eligible as a riding team member, a student must currently be enrolled in an Equitation Class offered by the University. All team members must be members in good standing of the Equestrian Club.
