Horses Bred
at Virginia Tech

SIRE: NOBLE CHAMPION was the 1998 Oldenburg Showjumping Stallion of the Year. He has 17 Grand Prix wins to his credit and was a German Nations Cup horse. This 16.2 hh bay stallion has breeding values of 120 for jumping and 116 for dressage. Noble Champion is a member of the Horses Unlimited stallion roster, Albuquerque, NM and we are indebted to owner Anne Whitten for graciously donating the breeding service to produce Navarre VT and Noble Oath VT .

DAM: KARIN is a large, grey Dutch Warmblood mare who was imported to the United States as an open jumper. After a successful career, she has retired to Virginia Tech's broodmare band. She is by top jumper sire Cavalier and out of a strong Gelderlander mare line. In 2002 she produced VT Rhapsody In Blue (show name "Rio's Merlin") by Rio Grande who has already earned tri-colors in the hunter ring. Her 2003 foal Navarre VT (also by Noble Champion) was Champion Filly at her inspection and will be retained by Virginia Tech as a broodmare.

NOBLE OATH VT, or "OTHELLO" as he is known on the farm, is a outstanding young prospect. Bred for jumping, but with his free shoulder, active hind leg, expressive gaits and wonderful character, he shows talent for dressage as well. In July 2006, Othello was shown in-hand at Dressage at Lexington by three interns from Virginia Tech. The impressive young gelding won both the ISR/Oldenburg NA IBC and the Amateur Handler class, and was third (to two stallion prospects) in a large 2yo C/G class. He is certainly one of the best young sporthorses ever bred by Virginia Tech, and sold in the 2006 Hokie Harvest Sale.
