SIRE: BALADIN D'OC is one of Virginia Tech's current breeding stallions. This highly successful FEI dressage stallion was born in France and travelled to Germany as a two-year-old where he was performance tested at Adelheidsdorf. As a five-year-old Baladin d'Oc was imported to the United States and competed with an adult amateur rider in FEI dressage competition. With very limited number of offspring, Baladin d'Oc has produced several Premium foals. Virginia Tech's breeding herd is greatly enhanced with the presence of Baladin d'Oc and we are delighted with his foals.
DAM: WIND STAR is a beautiful Oldenburg mare who came into our broodmare band in late 2002. She was a successful show horse in the 3'6" and 3'9" hunter arena prior to her donation. Wind Star's sire Wendepunkt, a Hanoverian stallion, was awarded the American Breeder's Award at Dressage at Devon. His daughter Wendemere was Best Young Horse at Devon in 1987. In 1988, the Wendepunkt daughter Winsome was Champion Young Horse at Devon. Wendepunkt is a granson of Ferdinand, sire of 1960 Olympic Gold Medal in Show Jumping winner Ferdl. The dam sire of Wendepunkt was the immortal Absatz. With 40 approved sons, he is highly credited with being the progenitor for the beauty and gaits of the modern Hanoverian.
