Olisco, sire of Heartland

Heartland, known as "Halloween", was donated to Virginia Tech by the Firestones of Newstead Farm in Upperville, Virginia. We are delighted to acquire this very sweet mare with such a strong genetic background and proven production record.

Heartland is by Olisco, earner of over $300,000 and winner of numerous Grand Prixs and was the highest placing American horse in the 1990 World Cup. Her dam is the top jumper mare Warina (show name "Trick or Treat"), who also produced Kix (by Quick Star), who jumped to Level 6 with Darren Graziano and is now ridden with great success by young rider Madeline Cox. In 2007, Kix earned Championships at the Wellington Classic, Gold Coast Jumper Classic, Killkenny Internationale, HITS on on the Hudson III, and Monmouth County. Points earned by the paired combination of Heartland's half-brother Kix and her son Lamplight earned the Firestones the ranking of #16 Leading Breeder of Jumpers for 2007 with USEF. In 2009, Kix has already won Championships in the 1.30m A/O Jumpers at WEF.

Heartland comes from a strong Gelderlander damline, which has also produced the excellent dressage stallions Kroonjuweel, Sion and Darwin, top jumping sire Zevenster, and the young American stallion Verito SSF. Heartland will be bred to Royal Appearance for 2010!
