MAGGIOLATA ("MAGGIE") was donationed to Virginia Tech's brood mare band by the noted dressage competitor and trainer Libby Anderson of Jilba Dressage in Catharpin, Virginia. Maggie was Reserve Champion Young Horse at the Wisconsin DCTA Eastern Chapter Dressage Show, a 1998 USDF Breeders Championship qualifying show. She is by Maurice, who stands in Germany, and won his stallion licensing in 1988. Maurice produces horses with excellent temperaments and high quality gaits, and has sired outstanding jumpers and dressage horses. Maggie's broodmare sire, Lepanto, has sired several outstanding sporthorses, and is the sire of Luminary, an exceptionally talented Hanoverian gelding in Virginia Tech's riding program.

Maggie was accepted into the Main Mare Book of the International Sport Horse Registry/Oldenburg Registry of North America in 2001, receiving a total score of 101 points with 7's in type, correctness of gait, neck, shoulder, frame and forelegs.
