Obey came to Virginia Tech in the summer of 2006, and we are thrilled to welcome this outstanding young mare into our breeding program. As a yearling, Obey had a truly incredible career in the Hunter Breeding ring.

Among her many titles, she was named AHSA Grand Champion Hunter Breeding Horse, AHSA National Horse of the Year - Hunter Breeding Yearling, Western PA Horse Show Champion Yearling and Grand Champion, Maryland Horse Show Association Thoroughbred Yearling Champion and Virginia Horse Shows Association High Score Award. She won the big yearling classes at the Devon Horse Show, Lexington Spring Premiere, Capitol Challenge, HITS Culpeper, and classes at more than 40 additional nationally-recognized shows.

Obey is by the graded stakeswinner Nepal, who also sired the AHSA Hunter Breeding Grand Champion Gala. Nepal also sired the Advanced eventer Catalyst. Obey's dam, Mongos Champ, also produced USEF Grand Champion Large Pony Rosecroft Wiseguy by Farnley Belshazzar. This is also the female family of blue hen mare Flaming Page (dam of Nijinsky II, Fleur).

Unfortunately, Obey suffered an injury in the field as a two-year-old and was unable to go on to what surely would have been a remarkable performance career. However, we are delighted to have such a valuable mare join our broodmare band. She has had two Thoroughbred foals previously and produced an outstanding colt by the top hunter pony Pengwyn in 2007.
